Thomas Heijligen cf947c9f51 Makefile: clean up variables ...

- replace $(LIBS) by $(LDFLAGS)
- use override to handle CPPFLAGS, CFLAGS, LDFLAGS
    This allows to append flags to the users input.
- remove unused $(DIFF)
